On Wednesday, January 31, at 7:30 p.m., the Friends of Rush River (FORR) met at the Henderson RoadHaus Event Center.
President Tom Bender opened the meeting followed by the reading of the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports from the meeting in November. The treasurer’s report showed a balance of $7,520.71.
Discussion was held on ways to save money in the operation of the park this coming year. The club wants the public to be aware that Friends of Rush River (FORR) is a 501c3, non-profit organization that accepts donations at any time. They can be mailed to PO Box 282, Henderson, MN 56044.
With any weather luck at all, the rainy summers we’ve had the past two years and the major flood three years agowill turn around. Hopefully, heavy trucks and horse trailers will be able to easily use the camp areas that have been almost inaccessible due to wet conditions. The road has been covered with a layer of crushed cement chips which helped immensely, but it needs a drier year to really dry out as the river is always very high.
The fundraiser dance has been set for March 3 with the Dakota Ramblers providing music. Needed are items for the bucket raffle which is the biggest money maker of the night. Think about items you could contribute and make donations happen.
KCHK and KNUJ will be used for advertising, as well as newspapers and flyers.
Officers for the upcoming year are as follows:
President: Tom Bender
Vice President: Joel Lueck
Secretary: Diane Paul
Treasurer: Tammy Bieman
Board Members: Rhonda Goblirsch, Jamie Hiles, Brian Dols, Tammy Schneider, Kendra Hiles, Becky Husfeldt, and Jessy Dols.
The next meeting will be at the RoadHaus Event Center on February 28 at 7:30 p.m. We hope you can attend.
