BPHS boys and girls track and field teams were able to display their talent and depth to a pair of Minnesota River Conference foes in Le Sueur last Tuesday, April 13.

The Tiger girls won 15 of 18 events, totaling 180 points, well ahead of Mayer Lutheran (43) and Le Sueur-Henderson (34).

The boys took top honors in 13 of 18 events and also won the meet with 151 points, compared to Le Sueur-Henderson (55) and Mayer Lutheran (48).

“It was great to finally get a track and field meet in,” said girls coach Richard Foust. “The weather was a little cool, but the athletes did a great job performing. We had several notable performances with many athletes contributing to the team win.”

The Tigers returned to action on Tuesday, April 20, when they welcomed Le Sueur-Henderson, Southwest Christian, and Tri-City United to Belle Plaine. (The results were unavailable at press time.)

The teams will also entertain Le Sueur-Henderson, Mayer Lutheran, and Tri-City United in an MRC quad on Tuesday, April 27, starting at 4 p.m.

The Tiger girls won all four relays and had the top seven finishers in the long jump and 200-meter dash, the top five finishers in the 100-meter dash and triple jump, the top four in the 3200-meter run and pole vault, five of the top six in the shot put and discus, and so on in a dominating debut.

The Tigers’ domination was spread out about the team, as the only dual-event winner was Malina Koepp, who won the 800-meter run and the triple jump.

The boys’ formula was similar, winning all four relays and spreading out its first place finishes about the team. Emmett Gerres won three events, the 1600-meter run, the 800-meter run, and the triple jump.
