The Tigers’ track and field teams had another successful outing against Minnesota River Conference foes on Tuesday, April 20, in Belle Plaine.

The girls squad took top honors in 18 of 19 events, totaling 163.5 points to best Tri-City United (53), Southwest Christian (34.5), and Le Sueur-Henderson 20.

The boys amassed 136.5 points, distancing itself from TCU (78.5), SWC (38), and LS-H (15).

Bennett Rerick (400-meter dash), Elijah Roell (300-meter hurdles), Max Larson (200-meter dash and long jump), Emmett Gerres (3200-meter run and triple jump), Andrew Siegle (high jump), and Bryce Kuhn (pole vault) all took top honors in their respective events.

The Tigers’ 4x200m relay team of Rerick, Siegle, Larson, and Nehamiah Juaire also took first place, as did the 4x400m relay of Gunnar Geisler, Kevin He, Adam Stiemke, and Gerres.

The girls team took top honors in 18 of 19 events. Leah Lenz won both the shot put and the discus. Hayley O’Brien won hurdle events, Savanna DeYoung won the 800m and the 1600m runs, and Malina Koepp’s 35’ 3 ½” effort in the triple jump qualified her for Raceberry, a website that recognizes top high school track and field performances.

Koepp, who also won the long jump, joins Lizzy Schmidt (100m) and Elissa Moonen (high jump) in the recognition.

“It was another chilly day,” said Coach Richard Foust, “but our team did a great job warming themselves up and putting on a great performance.”

The Tigers will step outside the MRC on Thursday, April 29, when they travel to Mankato East for an eight-team event. On Tuesday, May 4, the Tigers travel to Norwood Young America.
