The softball team won by a landslide in the first round matchup at Norwood Young America on Thursday evening with the girls beating their opponents 10-0.

The softball team won by a landslide in the first round matchup at Norwood Young America on Thursday evening, with the girls beating their opponents 10-0 and Brooke McGlinchey hitting a grand slam. 

The Tigers lost the second game in the doubleheader, with a great effort from the team and home runs from Cameron Chard and Brooke McGlinchey. Norwood Young America still came out victorious with an 11-8 final score. 

Belle Plaine is now second in the conference with three wins and one loss. The team plays at Saint Clair High School on Friday at 4:30 p.m. 

Track and Field

Boys and Girls Track and Field persevered through a cold, wet, and windy meet at home on Tuesday, April 27, and came out on top against Tri-City United, Mayer Lutheran, and Le Sueur-Henderson. 

The boys competed in 18 events earning a score of 144, beating TCU (72), ML (28), and LSH (13). 

The girls competed in 21 events earning a final score of 146.5, beating TCU (53), ML (35.5), and LSH (23). 

The boys team competes at Mankato East High School Friday night at 4 p.m. 

Baseball

The varsity team’s away game against GFW was canceled on Tuesday, and the Tigers (4-1) won’t play again until a Monday night home matchup against Mayer Lutheran (1-4) at 7 p.m.

Golf

Boys and girls golf are both third in the conference.

The boys competed at Dahlgreen on Tuesday, April 27, and earned third place (208) in a matchup against SWC (167), TCU (207), ML (220), and LSH (Inc.).

The girls also came in third (298) at their meet in Le Sueur-Henderson on Tuesday, against SWC (201), LSH (204), TCU (301), and ML (Inc.). 

Town Team

A full season of Belle Plaine Tigers town team baseball returns this weekend with a pair of contests scheduled at Tiger Park. On Friday night, April 30, the Glencoe Brewers of the Crow River Valley League will kick off the season at 7:30 p.m. with Dollar Dog Night.

On Sunday, May 2, the River Valley League schedule begins with a visit from the Arlington A’s at 2 p.m. with free root-beer floats and prizes.
